| Welcome
Welcome to the nesting place of the American Eagles of Tupelo. The proud franchise started slow in the Fat Elvis and has been continuing to build for the long run. Each year the team has moved up in the standings and the final goal is a league championship. We won't slow down until we make our goals.
Over the years the team has evolved. We started out in Memphis. Playing in the old, tattered stadium known as Presley Park, the Eagles took on the league with an aging field, but quality pitching. It wasn't long before they realized that pitching wasn't enough. They would have to find a balance of a young, strong lineup along with a pitching staff that could keep them in the games. As the small market grew more difficult with two other teams competing for the crowds.
The other two Memphis teams, Hound Dogs and Mafia walked away with championships in the first two seasons respectively. Those first two seasons took the toll on the Eagles. With barely a handful of fans showing up at the end of the second season, the Eagles opted to move to greener pastures. On to Tupelo.
Tupelo gave the Eagles revived hopes and filled stands. How did the Eagles respond? Though they played just a smattering of games above .500, they were able to lead the weakest division and pull in their first division title. They quickly folded in the playoffs and were sent into the off season to retool for 2002.
Plenty of young talent crowd the lockerroom of the Eagles. Alfonso Soriano, Jimmy Rollins, Jeff Weaver, Mark Mulder, J.D. Drew are just a few of the components that hope to lead the Eagles for the next few years as they soar to the top of the Fat Elvis Baseball Collective. In the farm are hot prospects like Eric Munson, John Buck, and Mark Teixeira are maturing and getting ready to take their spots on the Eagles roster.
