Gm 1
Munro v. Cornejo
There's the pitch, it's a double. There's a pitch, it's a double. There's a pitch it's a double. A double. A double. Another freaking double. *sigh* Big surprise, a double. More doubles.

Between the two teams there were 14 doubles. Nine of them by the home team. So what did the home team do with the plethora of doubles? Lose, of course. Sure, why not. After all, we ARE the Eagles.

Gm 2
Lowe v. Leiter
A tightly contested game. In the top of the ninth, in a 1-1 tie game, winner of the "manager for a day" contest, Grady Little strode to the mound to check on his starting pitcher. Leiter gave him the thumbs up. He was gonna finish the inning. Leiter then gave up two more runs to lose the game before getting yanked. Little was escorted from the stadium under the protection of security from the 42 fans that had lingered after the 7th inning when beer concessions were closed. Eagles drop another one.

Gm 3
Wolf v. Trachsel
Eagles pitching closed out the season the way they began. Struggling to give the fans souveniers off the bats of the opposing team. They did a poor job of it until the seventh inning when the Akitas broke out of their dingerless slump with three home runs.

The game mercifully ended after nine arduous innings. The Eagles went without a wimper. Shut out. The fans, which appeared to number fewer than the players in the dugout, left the stadium grumbling about the completed season.

Rumors have been flying throughout the Tupelo region of wanting new ownership, new direction, and a new team. But the Eagles owner knew this was going to be a difficult season. This was a year of changes. Preparations for the next season. The fickle fans will return to cheer on a younger, more talented team for sure. But this season was a bust from the opening pitch.
