Game 52  Thomson vs Ishii
Missourirode into Chico on a 6 game winning streak, and the Thespians hadn’t won since Millwood was suspended.  It was Chico however that drew first blood as Shea Hillenbrand cracked a 2-run homer in the 1st inning.  Each team scored single runs in the third, a Young double and a Little single for Mizzou, back to back doubles by Cruz and Cabrera for Chico, and the Actors went up 5-1 thanks to 4 hits in 5 batters in the 6th.  But an 8th inning meltdown by Chico reliever Pete Walker, not to mention a poor managing job by the Actors led to 5 runs in the 8th, capped by an error by Cabrera for the sixth and final run.  Isringhausen retired the last 5 batters in order for the save.  Chico stranded 15 runners in the defeat.

Game 53 – Roa vs Halama
The last time Roa took the mound against the Thespians he made Jailbird history by tossing a no-hitter.  Roberts single leading off the bottom of the first prevented a reoccurrence of that magnitude.  The Jailbirds took an early 2-0 lead with single runs in both the 1st and the 2nd.  Little wound up on third after a double and an error by Grissom and came home on a Sac Fly by Kendall, and Michaels scored when Chico catcher Vance Wilson failed to field a roller in front of the plate.  At that point, Chico took out the whooping sticks smashing five home runs over the next four innings, including back-to-backto-back jobs by Delgado, Wilson, and Cruz.  Delgado and Cruz ended up with two apiece, and John Halama and Brian Boehringer shut down Mizzou the rest of the way for an 8-2 win.

Game 54  Burkett vs Sabathia
Chicocapitalized on two Robert Fick errors, and survived another Pete Walker meltdown to win 8-6.  The Jailbirds again took an early lead, Michaels driving in Milton Bradley in the first, and again the Actors responded.  This time a two-run double by Cruz in the first, and two unearned runs thanks to the Fick error and a Roberts single ran the Thespian lead to 4-1.  Chico added another run with three two-out singles in the fourth, and Missouri got one back in the 6th.  Fick misplayed a ball for a three-base, 2-run scoring error in the bottom of the 6th for a 7-2 Thespian lead.  Both teams added a solo homer in the 7th, Ramon Santiago for Mizzou, Jose Cruz for Chico, setting up a wild top of the ninth.  With Pete Walker pitching, consecutive singles by Fick and Mueller, followed by a two-run double by Santiago created a save situation for Scott Williamson.  Pinch Hitter Todd Hundley slapped a ball to Shane Halter who promptly threw it in the front row, but there it stopped.  Williamson retired the next three in order, and Chico had its first series win against a fellow member of the Vernon Division.
