Maddux v. Leiter
The Eagles welcomed one of the Vernon Division leading teams, the Hitmen, for a three game series in Tupelo. The vistors jumped out to an early lead, but the home team continued to battle back. At the end of regulation, the score was knotted at three apiece. The tenth saw no further action for either team. In the top of the eleventh former Eagle shortstop, Alex Rodriguez turned on an inside pitch from Julio Santana and crushed the ball and morale of the Eagles. With Smoltz on the mound for the Hitmen, the downed Eagles went down quickly and quietly — K, K, K. Final score 4-3.

Lieber v. Trachsel
Again, the Eagles let the bums score in the first and would end up watching the game continue to slip away from them inning by inning. The Hitmen plated two more in the top of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead.

Eagles right fielder, Jermaine Dye got one run back with a solo homer in the bottom of the second. In the seventh the Eagles drew another run closer when Adam Piatt pinch ran for slugbutt, Mo Vaughn. Piatt scored on a single driven to centerfield by Matt Williams. That would be as close as the Eagles would get. Steve Finley added another solo shot in the top of the ninth to finish the Eagles off. Final score 4-2.

Moss v. Haynes
For the fifth straight game the Eagles allowed one or more runs in the first inning of play. But today the Eagles battled back and took the lead in the bottom of the third on a two out two run double by Nomar Garciaparra. But the lead would be short lived as the Eagles pen came in to put the final nail in the coffin. Only problem is that the coffin was the Eagles.

Here's how the Hitmen's sixth inning went: double, ground out to first, walk, hbp, hbp, single, walk, double, single, ground out, ground out. An ugly inning that pushed the Eagles back against a wall. Even though the bats of the Eagles would stay alive and keep trying, the Eagles pitchers would go on to allow two more runs in subsequent innings. Will this season ever end? Final score 10-7.
