Game 43  Wakefield vs Ishii
The Norsemen, tied for first in the Vernon, knock on the door of the last place Thespians.

Scoreless into the third, the scoring opened when leadoff hitter Todd Zeile (Did I really just type that?) cracked a two run homer in the top of the third.  Chico countered by collecting three consecutive two out singles, followed by Wakefield’s refusal to throw a strike to the next two hitters.  In the bottom of the fourth, the Thespians took the lead with a single and stolen base from Doug Glanville, a one-out double from Carlos Delgado and a two out single from Ty Wigginton.  The wheels came off the cart in the top of the sixth, for the Actor’s however.  A Posada walk, McCracken single allowed Neifi Perez to tie the game with a double, and with two outs, another walk ended Ishii’s day with two on and the score tied.  Long reliever Pete Walker threw gasoline on the two out fire facing six batters and failing to get any of them out.  Three doubles, 2 walks and a single later and the score was 9-4.  Mark Fyhrie and Scott Williamson threw perfect relief afterwards, but the Thespians were only able to scratch out a final run in the ninth on an Orlando Cabrera double.

Game 44 Williams vs Halama
Chico’s lone All-Star took the mound in game 2, matching against All-Star MVP Woody Williams.  And Williams showed why he was MVP of the Mid-Summer Classic.  Williams went the distance shutting down the Thespians on four hits.  Three consecutive singles got Forbes Field on the board in the second, Zeile hit his second homer in as many days in the third, and Williams himself ended the scoring with an RBI double in the seventh.  Williams struck out 10 and walked none.

Game 45  Mussina vs Baez
The Thespians got off to a fast start in their attempt to avoid the sweep.  With two outs Delgado, who reached on a HBP, was driven home by a Vance Wilson double, and after Mackowiak was also hit by a pitch, Orlando Cabrera cleared the bases for a 3-0 lead.  In the third another HBP, this time to Wilson, and Mackowiak who walked, were both driven home by a Wigginton single.  In the fourth Chico tried to put the game away with another RBI double by Wilson, and a 2 run double by Mackowiak.  The lead was 8-0.  Baez finally gave up the shutout in the fifth when Posada drove home Bonds with a single, and a Delgado error led to a second run.  The Actors got the run back when Cabrera drove home Delgado with his third RBI, but the Norse got a pinch hit double from Craig Wilson.  Vance ended the scoring with a solo home run, and the Thespians knocked away the brooms with a 10-3 decision.  Even in the victory more bad news followed the Thespians.  In Dave Roberts first game back from the disabled list, he collided with Jose Cruz Jr.  Cruz will sit out the opening game of the Akitas series, while Roberts will be put back on the DL.  He will miss the next two series.
