Game 1  (Perez vs. Williams)
The second half started with a crucial matchup between Missouri's Odalis Perez and Forbes Field's Woody Williams, resulting in one of the most suspenseful games ever played at Forbes Field.  Each team scored once in the first inning.  Forbes took a 1-run lead in the 3rd, but had an insurance run gunned down at the plate by Jim Edmonds.  Missouri took the lead in the 4th, but lost it on a Craig Wilson leadoff homer in the bottom half of the inning.  Missouri rallied with two outs in the 5th, but Barry Bonds threw out the go-ahead run at home to end the frame and preserve the 3-3 tie.  Forbes used 4 pitchers to get through the 7th and 8th innings unharmed and then led off the bottom of the 10th with a triple by Quinton McCracken.  Unfortunately, Q strayed off the bag and a drawn-in Mark McLemore tagged him out on a liner by Wilson.  In the top of the 12th, McLemore led off with a 400' flyout to the warning track in left center.  Giambi followed with a double, but failed to score on a 2-out clutch single by Vladimir Guerrero thanks to a fine throw by McCracken.  McCracken then led off the bottom of the 12th with a single, advanced to second on a Neifi Perez groundout and scored the winning run on a misplayed single to right field by Todd Zeile.
