Mudville (6-3) hosts the Memphis Mafia (6-3). The Spiders were still looking for their first home victory of the season.

Roy Oswalt vs. Brandon Duckworth (Game 1 – Day 11)
A disastrous 1st inning for Duckworth and the Spiders. By the time it was over, five runs had scored on only two hits. Three walks had been issued, four bases had been stolen and a very costly error by Craig Counsell had accounted for four unearned runs. Counsell's error came about due to a careless toss of the mask by Spider catcher Paul Lo Duca, who threw it down in the path of Counsell, causing him to fall over it and allow an easy pop-up to fall for a two-base error.

With Oswalt on the mound for the Mafia, this game looked to be over early. However, the eight-legged freaks came crawling back. They would plate two runs in the 2nd inning, followed by three more in the 3rd. Paul Lo Duca's rbi-double would chase home Vladimir Guerrero with the tying run, partially atoning for his 1st-inning gaffe.

Guerrero's solo shot put Mudville up for the first time in the game, 6-5, after five. It wouldn't last.

A two-out, two-run double from Mark McLemore would put Memphis back on top in the 6th. Then, in the 9th, a little insurance was added via a lead-off moon shot from Jim Thome. Robb Nen then rudely slammed the door on the home team.

Mark Mulder vs. Vicente Padilla (Game 2 – Day 12)
The Spiders break out quickly with a three-run 2nd. Andruw Jones rips a solo dinger, followed later in the frame by Aramis Ramirez's two-run clout.

An Eliis Burks homer makes it 3-1 in the 6th, but Mudville counters with two in the 7th, one of which was a gift from the Mafia.

The Spider pen does the job after Padilla was forced to exit in the 5th with a tight shoulder. He is expected to make his next start. The scorekeeper awarded the win to Ray King, who was the best of the Mudville relievers on this night.

Mike Mussina vs. Jason Schmidt (Game 3 – Day 13)
This game was played on Easter Sunday. Resurrection was the operative word.

Jose Vidro leads off the last of the 1st with a solo blast. In the 2nd, the Spiders tack on another run for a 2-0 lead.

Jim Thome drives home two with a 3rd-inning double for the Mafia, and Memphis later takes the lead on a wild pitch by Schmidt. The Mafia are up 3-2, heading into the last of the 5th.

Andruw Jones' two-out. two-run single puts the arachnids back in front in the last of the 5th, 4-3. The Spiders score twice more in the 7th, and lead 6-3 as the game enters the 9th.

And then, resurrection time.

Mark McLemore singles off Octavio Dotel to get things started. Adam Dunn then ropes a two-run homer, and it's 6-5. After Thome fans, Lance Berkman draws a walk. Ellis Burks follows with a shot that narrowly eludes the grasp of Andruw Jones in center field, and the resulting double knots the game. Then, Edgardo Alfonzo drills one to center, and this time, Andruw doesn’t even move, as the 425-foot bomb propels Memphis to an 8-6 lead.

The Spiders fight back gamely in the bottom half of the inning. Vladimir Guerrero drills a lead-off jack, and Jones crushes a one-out double. However, he would advance no farther.

This series ends the way it began, with a five-run inning for the Mafia, who take two of the three contests.

After the game, Mudville skipper "Whitey" Ashburn growled, "This game surely would have killed me, if I was still alive, that is."
