saturdays
the music drives my mind to long ago
hurry, turn it on
change to the station
endless summer days now gone

i recall the pancakes
lots and lots
how many could i eat
and the programs went on

monkees and scooby
bringing me joy as a young boy
josey and those darn pussycats
trouble followed that quest boy, johnny

there was sigmund and hong-kong
bugaloos and banana splits
then out to help dad in the yard
climbing fences and trees

riding my bike down gravel roads
wondering how to ride with no hands
and how much longer ‘til i drove a car
would i drive that without my hands

now those days are a memory
brought back by the music
coming from the cd player
how far we have come
how far i’ve come

is it really better now
or just an illusion of time
