a fools folly is filled
quagmire with surety
always striving
never arriving
his life has not much worth

someone else
to rid us of the mess
the fool and his folly has brought
he throws up his hands
in utter disgust
and pommels the fool
with great jolly

now the fool
lies silent and bleeding
resiliently resigned
he begins to laugh
at the folly
that landed him down
looking foolishly up

the folly of the fool
yes, it's still a quagmire
always striving
never arriving
his life's still not worth much
