frozen tears of a thoughtless clown
the three ring circus tent comes down
lions and tigers locked in their cage
the elephants stormed and went on a rage
all were angry at what happened to them
angry at all the women and men
taking a buck to make the ends meet
driving the poorest of souls on the street
keeping the pockets empty and cold
rhyming their whistles with stories untold
ladies and gentlemen called the ring barker
it all has ended was the big shocker
what happened to joy and the unbridled hope
knowing the smiles would always help cope
yet today tears fall from a bruised little clown
the day that tent fell hard to the ground
so just what happened to make it this way
so many now wonder why on this day
did the circus collapse and fall with a roar
bears and their bikes and the artists that soar
where was the warning of the calamity
where was the prophets of the damned city
who pulled the plug on a show of all shows
removing the ball from the clowns little nose
the saddest of days is the day they left town
wagons in tow they left the fairground
heads hanging low silent and worn
petals from a daisy from the ground it was shorn
slowly methodically they file through the streets
still waving though gloomily at those that they meet
sometimes life seems like a circus to mend
but the show of all shows has come to an end
at the edge of the town a smile does shine
on all the animals and the silenced mimes
for the next city is close and they are all ready
to embrace with all love and tons of confetti
there will the tents rise high in the air
and sound out the sound of all circus flair
the crowds will come running to see the great show
frozen tears now dry - never again will they flow
