What happened in '57?

In normal rotation, the Braves would have started Spahn in the payoff contest between the Yankees and the Braves, but the lefthander had been felled by the flue. Manager Haney had no choice but to call on Burdette, with only two days of rest, and the righthander rose to the occassion with his 5 to 0 triumph. The Braves routed Larsen while scoring four runs in the fourth inning. Crandall wrapped up the day's scoring and the Series with a homer off Byrne, fifth Yankee pitcher, in the eighth inning.

What are the rules?

THE NUMBER ONE RULE IS TO HAVE FUN.

THE NUMBER TWO RULE IS TO NEVER FORGET RULE NUMBER ONE!

RULES ORDER OF PRECEDENCE:

  • Hot Stove League special rules
  • Fat Elvis Baseball Collective special rules
  • Dynasty League rules

ROSTERS:
Each team will have a 24-man roster. There will be a 3-man minor league system. You must have a rated backup at each position on your major league roster.

SCHEDULE/PLAYOFFS:
Each team will play a 39-game regular season. The top three teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs. Please click on the link for the league schedule if you wish to view it.

The first round of the playoffs will pit the 2nd and 3rd place teams against each other in a best-of-five series at the 2nd place team's park.

The winners of these series will then play the 1st place teams in their respective divisions, in a traditional 2-3-2, best-of-seven series. The division winners will then meet in a 2-3-2, best-of-seven championship series.

TALENT POOL
All players with limited use statistics are ineligible for our player pool.

All players with a D or F durability rating are also ineligible. All pitchers with a "spot start" use rating MAY be drafted, but only as a relief pitcher. They are ineligible as a starter.

INJURIES:
No injury can exceed the current series being played. A player from the minor leagues may be called up for the next game(s) in the current series to replace the injured player. There will be no scrub pile to choose from.

UMPIRES/WEATHER:
Before each game, you will roll for umpires and weather, as always. For weather, use the '99 charts that are closest to the home team. For umpires, establish a 50/50 chance for a large or normal strike zone prior to game one. This will prevail for the series.

TRADING:
Trades may be completed during the week between the draft and the start of the regular season, which is Friday, December 1, 2000. After that, rosters are frozen until the All-Star break. Trades may be completed during the All-Star break. Once the second half begins (you play your first game after the break), no further trades are allowed.

WRITE-UPS/STATS:
Writeups MUST include the line score, pitcher and catcher use, as well as Wins, Saves, Home runs and Steals. Any other stats you wish to keep are at your discretion. Game descriptions, as always, are desirable, but not mandatory.
